About

I’ve been teaching English since the late 20th century (a sobering thought).
I’ve taught in a multitude of contexts: big/small classes, adults/YLs, General/Business, Online/Offline, etc, etc.

My work has taken me to Ecuador, the UK, Spain, Thailand, Japan, Oman, Switzerland & France for extended periods.

I’ve been a CELTA tutor since 2002 & in that time I’ve had the pleasure of training 1,500 people from around 15 countries.

My particular ELT interests are content-based instruction, a Dogme approach & promoting digital literacy.

I’m also a translator (CAT/ESP/ENG) & have worked for clients such as ARA, The Islamic Culture Foundation, The Catalan International View, VilaWeb & the Universitat Pompeu Fabra

From 2008-2018 I owned & ran a an organic corner store in the centre of Barcelona with my wife (when I wasn’t busy doing my other jobs!).

A few of my interests:

Welcome to my blog

take the legwork out of reading!

There’s a lot of fascinating information out there, but sometimes we just don’t have time to find it & actually read it.
This is where this blog comes in.

I’m here to give you a summary of interesting studies, journalism & news related to the world of ELT, language learning, linguistic research & anything else that catches my eye.
I always include the link, so you can check it out for yourself.
